Nurturing Beginnings: A Thoughtful Design for Maternity at a Leading Superspecialty Facility in North India

Every life begins with one common journey- pregnancy!

The careful planning of the maternity department of a 1200 bed Superspecialty facility in North Indian city includes a warm lobby space, a screening cum first stage ward, 3 well-equipped labor rooms, two C-section operating rooms, separate delivery area for eclampsia cases, a 10 bed intensive care unit dedicated for serious maternity cases, another 30 bed NICU with category 1 to 3 along with a viewing gallery placed near a 10 bed post Partum ward.

The focus of Acenzo's healthcare design team was not limited to delivering just a functional design, but also to prioritize comfort and safety for expectant mothers and newborns. It features a welcoming entrance with soft lighting, clear signage, and comfortable seating. Private labor rooms offer ample natural light, adjustable lighting, and discreetly integrated medical equipment.

Design team has proposed alternative birthing spaces, including birthing pools to provide diverse delivery options. The neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) is equipped with advanced technology and a gallery for families. Postpartum rooms offer private, serene environments for mothers and newborns. Breastfeeding and lactation support areas ensure privacy and comfort. Overall, our goal at Acenzo was to balance the aesthetics and functionality, creating a nurturing space for a positive birthing experience!
